Blessed

Our sweet little Ruby was born on a few days ago.
What a joyous day!
And as I sit here, enjoying some alone time with baby Ruby,
all I feel is an abundance of gratitude and love.
I feel truly blessed.

Blessed that we made it to the hospital just in time for an epidural. The epidural was only in for ten minutes before she was born, so I'm glad I had some relief for the most painful portion of labor.

Blessed that baby Ruby is strong and healthy. Blessed that my recovery is going smoothly.

Blessed that my mother-in-law took great care of our two older children during our hospital stay, and blessed that my mother is here for the week to help at home.

Blessed to have a wonderful Mom who loves being a grandma! From frog catching to dress-up games, she has happily kept the attention of Simon and Grace so I could rest.

Blessed for a husband who held me through each labor contraction and encouraged me every step of the way.

Blessed to have a husband that changes diapers and wakes up in the middle of the night to calm a crying baby.

Blessed to have such sweet children, who already love their little sister with all their tiny hearts. They want to hold her, comfort her, and share toys with her. Grace kisses her head so softly it makes me beam with delight. Simon watches over her like a protective brother, and he is quick to run to her every cry and squeak.

"For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of him."
-1 Samuel 1:27
