Yesterday the girls and I made our annual Tie Dyed Easter Eggs.

Here are the ties that we picked out to use:

Last month, we cleaned out Kevin's clothes and got rid of the majority of his wardrobe, including tons of his ties. I didn't give away the ties, instead I kept them for making our Tie-Dyed Eggs.

Here are the ties cut up and wrapped around the eggs:

 TOTAL FAIL. I don't know what happened to these eggs. The colors didn't transfer at all. 

I have never had more than 1 flop a year. Don't know what happened to these ones.

I was going to toss them out, but decided to keep them, they have a perfect analogy for us on Good Friday.

The eggs that didn't keep the color are a good reminder that these eggs aren't perfect.

Neither am I. And, neither are you.

Which is why, today.....on Good Friday I am so thankful that Jesus died on the cross for me and for you. Even though we are far from perfect, God sent his one and only perfect Son to die on the cross for us.

I'm thankful for the cross....but, I'm even more thankful that Sunday is coming!

So glad we get to celebrate our risen Savior this weekend!

Need a quick, easy and last minute Easter activity to do with your kids that is actually meaningful?
Here is a fun one that I read about a few years ago & couldn't wait to do it with Kate.
We made these last Sunday (on Palm Sunday) but it is really meant to be done the night before Easter Sunday.

Empty Tomb Easter Cookies
Here is what you need:

1 Cup of Pecans
1 Cup of Sugar
1 tsp. Vinegar
3 Egg Whites
Zipper Bag
Wooden spoon
Wax Paper
Pinch of Salt
Tape
Bible

I can't believe I haven't made a Printable for Easter Peeps S'mores  yet.
I have made them for Valentine's Day, Halloween and Christmas, but not Easter!
Peeps are the official Easter treat, and I had made printables for all those other holiday with peeps, but not Easter.
For Shame!
I knew I had to remedy this ASAP.

 
Mmmmm.....Peeps!

  Have your kid (or you) write in who their Easter treat is to and who it is from.

Just put 2 graham cracker halves, a hershey bar & a peep in the bag:
 Fold it up & put on a label:
Staple on the sides:
So cute:

The girls made them for all the kids on our court and it took a lot of self control for them not to eat them.
So, of course I let them have one :)

The best thing about Easter isn't the Bunny.
The best thing about Easter isn't kids crying on the Easter Bunny's lap.
(Although, you know I love a good crying Easter Bunny picture, which my girls seem to have grown out of. This was our first year with no tears. Click here to see years past. Keeping my fingers crossed Baby #3 will give me some good crying pics. Ha!)

The best thing about Easter isn't the Easter Baskets, the cute bunny shirts, Easter Egg Hunts, Easter outfits, the Chocolate or Dyeing Eggs.
All those things are fun things & great things, but the best part about Easter is JESUS.
He died on the cross for You & Me.
He rose again, defeating death so that we could have LIFE.
Thank you, Jesus for your LOVE and FORGIVENESS even though we don't deserve it.
