New Kitchen Lighting

If you have been reading here for any amount of time you know one of my biggest hobbies is adding style/design to any part of life!  It could be from putting together Bradley's outfits, decorating for holidays, or adding stickers in my paper planner! :)  Everyone needs a hobby that excites them and mine is definitely styling!

My favorite subject is our house.  We moved here in 2010 and I would describe our house as builder basic with built in character (arched doorways, woods behind our house, etc).  We LOVED having a move in ready house with lots of space, five bedrooms, four bathrooms, large finished basement, etc,  but it did create a blank slate for all of my ideas!  Enter: the most appropriate pin of all time.

Our most recent update was our kitchen lighting.  Basically all of the lighting in our house doesn't fit our style (and of course we picked them out when building, figures), and we are slowly working on updating the ones that we notice the most.  These are nice, quality light fixtures, but they are more traditional than our style.

Here they are lit from the family room angle (and typical mess).  Hi Bradley!

So the hunt began!  We looked at every possible lighting store in the Twin Cities area (including Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, West Elm, etc) and would find a possible good fixture for over the kitchen table, but then unable to find coordinating lights for over the bar, or vice versa.  So that brought our search online.  We finally found the perfect lights for this space!

For above the kitchen table we went with an iron globe chandelier from Shades of Light.

We love how it looks with the table!

Then for above the bar we found the perfect globe pendants from Lamps.com.  Love love love!

This gives a totally different feel to the space and we are obsessed!

Instagrammed. :)

Impossible to photograph lit.  Someone come clean my kitchen.

And both of them!  I seriously was holding off on the this blog post until I removed the kitchen crap.  It will never happen, so here you go. :)  This is real life, folks!

In other kitchen news, we moved this three tiered basket from Bradley's nursery to the kitchen!  Love it in here!  We are lacking counter-stored fruit right now so it looks a little strange, but still love.  And we STILL want to update our cabinets to white to match the built ins, but we decided we need to wait until we are completely done with toddlers and their sticky fingers before making that update. :)

I just love a good house update!  On to the next project! :)
